Writing a book on your own is not a simple feat, so I can’t even imagine trying to write one with someone else. Having two minds flowing with ideas must be a challenge, yet Rachel Cohn and David Levithan weave their words seamlessly.
Dash chooses to be alone during Christmas and happens upon a mysterious notebook in his favorite bookstore. The author is Lily, who happens to have been deserted by her parents for Christmas. The two communicate well through the notebook, but how will they do in person?
Cohn writes Lily with such joy and optimism. She’s spunky and knows what she wants. Levithan writes Dash, who loves a bit of mystery despite his narcissism about the world. The combination sparks magic.
Final say: A fun and light romance for the holidays. ★★★★★
