It’s been close to seven years since YA author John Green released his best-seller The Fault in Our Stars, but he is finally back with his sixth novel.
Sixteen-year-old Aza suffers from OCD and is often stuck inside her own head. Her best friend Daisy gets her involved with solving the mysterious disappearance of billionaire Russell Pickett. Along the way, Aza rekindles her friendship with Pickett’s son Davis, but continues to fight her own demons.
This novel is beautifully written, but sometimes lacks the depth that makes Green’s other novels so interesting. Few characters, other than Aza, really get fleshed out, which may leave you feeling disconnected.
However, Green’s dive into the world of someone living with OCD is brilliant and uncomfortable to read at times.
Final say: Aza’s character alone is worth the read. ★★★☆☆
