The third venture in Netflix’s now-incredibly large original programming, Orange is the New Black is still one of the best.
Starting off following Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), based on real-life former inmate Piper Kerman, as she enters jail for a past crime. Luckily, as the series goes on, the story strays from Piper and focuses on the ensemble as a whole. The show gives viewers a softer side of prison and explores the lives of the female inmates both before they went into Litchfield and as they serve time.
The past two seasons (four and five) have had explosive storylines about the overcrowding of jails, police brutality and inmate rights. All the while you’ll be laughing and crying because of the incredible writing.
Final say: Season three gets a bit boring, but stick with it to watch four and five. ★★★★★
