Book: Truly Madly Guilty

Let me start this by saying Liane Moriarty is my favorite author and her books are incredible to read. Unfortunately, this one just seems to fall a bit short.

This book follows three families – Clementine & Sam, Erika & Oliver, and Tiffany & Vid – and the ramifications of a very unfortunate barbeque that results in death. The book starts after the climax, but constantly flashes back.

More so than Moriarty’s other novels, this book is just so hard to get into. I felt a lack of sympathy for Clementine, who has the most focus, which made me not care for her storyline. For a long time, the characters never directly refer to what happened at the barbeque and it became confusing to read their emotions without knowing what caused them.

Final say: Read Moriarty’s other books before this. ★★☆☆☆
