With drama that unsuccessfully tries to emulate the early seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race and an unhelpful judging panel, Drag Race Holland is one of the rougher entries in the Drag Race universe.

Ten queens compete to become the first Dutch Drag Race Superstar with host Fred van Leer and permanent judge Nikkie Plessen.

Compared to other hosts, the overly flirty van Leer seems distant toward the competing queens and doesn’t do walkthroughs. The judging panel – except for the fantastic Nikkie de Jager – don’t give overly helpful critiques and have a very limited view on what’s feminine and masculine.

The queens feel overly produced with raging arguments that seem to end as quickly as they begin. Though the top two are deserving, one is unapologetically rude throughout and the other gets undeserving wins.

Final say: Holland isn’t where it’s at. ★★★☆☆
