Though it couldn’t be made today, Private Resort is a fun sex comedy starring a young Johnny Depp and a then-unknown Rob Morrow.
Ben (Morrow) and Jack (Depp) are staying at a resort in Miami and on the prowl for attractive women. They accidentally get tangled up in The Maestro’s (Héctor Elizondo) crime of stealing a diamond from Amanda (Dody Goodman).
There’s little depth to the film – and often little clothing – so it’s not one that you have to invest in mentally. However, the women in the film are mostly used as objects of desire rather than given actual characters.
A fresh-faced Morrow is hard to resist, and you’ll love him even when he’s making questionable decisions. Depp is fantastic to look at, but his character is less appealing.
Final say: Not saying you’d want to book a room here. ★★★☆☆
