By staying faithful to its predecessors while upping the gore and changing the rules, Scream VI could easily be the best Scream since the original.

The Core Four – Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad (Mason Gooding) – move to New York following the Woodsboro murders. When Ghostface (Roger L. Jackson) reappears, he’s intent on finishing off Sam and Tara.

Courteney Cox is the sole returner from the first film while Hayden Panettiere returns from Scream 4. It’s wonderful to have familiar faces around, but the new cast does an incredible job in carrying the torch. Barrera and Ortega have a great dynamic.

The storyline will keep you guessing, but there are many throwbacks to the previous films. Ghostface is more brutal than ever, and the kills will make you shudder.
