In Despicable Me 2, Illumination Studios proves that it can create a fantastic sequel that lives up to the first and allows for future adventures to come.
Gru (Steve Carell) has left his villain days behind to raise his adopted daughters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Elsie Fisher). When a highly dangerous serum is stolen, the Anti-Villain League recruits Gru to work with Agent Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) to track down the culprit.
Instead of resetting with Gru on another villainous mission, making him work for the good guys and track down another villain whom he’d had interactions with provides great development. He’s a character you cheer for and Carell’s voice acting is continually entertaining.
It’s also great to see the lovable minions with added screentime and different sides to their characters.
Final say: Despicably great sequel. ★★★★☆
