By serving as a prequel to Alien but having its own unique storyline to stand on its own, Prometheus is science fiction at its best.

Drs. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) discover a star map that could lead them to the origins of humanity. Funded by Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce), a team of explorers is put together and sent to space, but soon find a threat that can destroy humans.

The cinematography of this film is fantastic with director Ridley Scott opting for more practical sets and locations than CGI. This allows for an element of reality that most sci-fi films lack nowadays. Combining that with an established cast of actors, the film feels more resonant of Alien and Aliens than any of the other sequels.

Final say: Captivating from the start. ★★★★☆
