A silly action-adventure, Alien vs. Predator takes the villains of two largely successful sci-fi franchises and pits them against each other.
Charles Weyland (Lance Henriksen) discovers that a large, undiscovered pyramid is buried beneath ice on an island off the coast of Antarctica. He assembles a team, including guide Lex Woods (Sanaa Lathan), to explore it. But they’re soon caught in the crossfire of an ancient war between Aliens and Predators.
Unlike their origin films, Alien vs. Predator lacks any real scares. There’s little to no anxiety while waiting for action to occur. However, the fight scenes between these iconic monsters are fun to watch.
Compared to Predator 2, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, this film embraces the chaotic fun and makes a new storyline that is enjoyable if nonsensical.
Final say: A solid match. ★★★☆☆
