Taking the second Night at the Museum film and placing it in Washington D.C. rather than New York is a fun idea that works well despite the numerous amounts of plot holes.
When many exhibits from New York’s American Museum of Natural History are being shipped to the Smithsonian for permanent storage, Dexter the Monkey steals Ahkmenrah’s (Rami Malek) tablet that brings them to life. Night guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) must go retrieve it but runs into Ahkmenrah’s evil brother Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria).
Though we lose screen time with beloved characters, new ones like Amy Adams’ Amelia Earhart and Bill Hader’s General George Custer are fantastic additions. There’s more to learn, great cameos and adventure that’ll keep your interest.
You may ask lots of questions on how everything is happening, but it’s good entertainment.
Final say: Another fun Night. ★★★★☆
