From the start, The Dead Don’t Die feels like it will become a quirky zombie comedy like Zombieland or a quirky police comedy like Fargo. Unfortunately, the action barely picks up and you’ll be left feeling less than alive.
In a rural town, Police Chief Cliff Robertson (Bill Murray) and Officers Ronnie Peterson (Adam Driver) and Mindy Morrison (Chloë Sevigny) investigate the murders in a local diner. When they realize zombies did it, they do what they can to protect the town from more attacks.
Most of the characters are in throw away roles and there’s little development to make you care whether they live or die. Because of this, the movie moves about as slow as a zombie walks.
Murray and Driver have comedic potential, but both characters fall flat.
Final say: Everything is dead from the start. ★★☆☆☆
