It’s a shame that the script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is weak because other elements show the strength that lies beneath.
Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and his girlfriend Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) are graduating from high school and looking to move on to the next chapter of their lives. Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) is seeking out Spider-Man, while one of his workers Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) gets in a major accident.
Electro’s backstory and the reasoning for his destruction doesn’t seem worth it, we don’t get to see enough of Harry to accept his transformation and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) barely gets screentime.
Unfortunately, there are too many elements this film tries to handle that derails it for the fans. While Garfield and Stone are fantastic, their chemistry can’t save this blunder.
Final say: Less than amazing. ★★★☆☆
