Third book in the Dash & Lily series

In their third go around with the titular characters, co-authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan allow for growth and exploration in the characters but lose some of the love.

Studying at Oxford University, Dash is surprised when Lily surprises him for a visit at the holidays. Dash is uncertain of his future and unhappy with his education while Lily isn’t at school and is trying to figure out what to do after her gap year.

The first book in this series had a spark of magic that the second and now this one haven’t been able to recapture. While Dash and Lily are endearing characters and clearly love each other, there’s a disconnect in their story.

However, it is amazing to watch them grow and figure out their futures whether it’s together or apart.

Final say: Stumbled into the gap. ★★★☆☆
