There’s only one book for which this series is based upon, so season two of Big Little Lies had to create its own continuation. With incredible writing and the addition of the incomparable Meryl Streep, season two is just as strong as the first.
Celeste (Nicole Kidman) struggles when her mother-in-law Mary Louise (Streep) moves in and begins questioning the circumstances of Perry’s (Alexander Skarsgård) death. Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz) deals with guilt, while Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Renata (Laura Dern) go through marital troubles.
As the season continues, Streep ends up in a bit of a Kramer vs. Kramer situation with Kidman and it’s a cool way to see her career come full circle.
What’s most important with this show is how it handles mental health and pushes the characters outside of their comfort zones.
Final say: Tell me lies. ★★★★★
