Released: September 25, 2020
By: Carrie Underwood
Though she’s released Christmas songs over the years, Carrie Underwood keeps the Christ in Christmas on her first full-length holiday album.
Underwood has incredible control over her voice and pitch, which makes every song sound perfect. Her belting is almost unattainable so you can’t always sing along but you’ll still want to listen.
Two of her original songs are instant hits. The John Legend-feature “Hallelujah” beautifully blends their voices and is lifted by his piano playing, while “Let There Be Peace” is more of a gospel performance than her other music.
The album moves a bit slow at times and you may skip through some songs – including a cute though self-pleasing duet with her son Isaiah on “Little Drummer Boy” – but overall, it’s beautiful to keep on repeat.
Final say: A gift you won’t return. ★★★★☆
