It seemed inevitable that one of the most popular immersive entertainment trends would be made into a scary movie. While it doesn’t disappoint, Escape Room still doesn’t reach its full potential.

Six strangers are brought together by a puzzle cube that leads them to an elaborate escape room. They soon realize that the rooms aren’t as harmless as they assume they’d be and that the Gamemaster has attuned rooms specifically to his players.

The cast is a mix of familiar and fresh faces and does well with a bit of diversity. Unfortunately, you can guess some of what will happen to the characters right from the start. The first scene is a reveal of something happening towards the end and takes away from the suspense of everything leading to that point.

Final say: Stay a while. ★★★☆☆
