Though the stories get better in its sequels, there’s no denying that Toy Story is one of the greatest animated films of all-time, especially being the first full-length computer-animated film.
When Andy (John Morris) receives new toy Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) for his birthday, his current favorite toy Woody (Tom Hanks) becomes jealous as Buzz takes over the top position. The two toys’ rivalry takes them on new adventures.
Pixar set a standard from the start on having famous voices lead their films. Both Hanks and Allen give incredible vocal performances and even though both are recognizable, they won’t take you out of the film.
Woody can be hard to handle at times with his ego and everything featuring Sid (Erik von Detten) is creepy, but they don’t take away from this modern classic.
Final say: To infinity and beyond. ★★★★★
