Adapted for the screen by and starring Tom Hanks, Greyhound is a fast-paced World War II drama set shortly after the United States entered the war.

Captain Ernest Krause (Hanks) of the USS Keeling – using the call sign “Greyhound” – makes his first journey across the Atlantic as part of an escort group protecting a merchant ship convoy in an area without air coverage. When the boats are attacked by submarines, he must do what it takes to get them to safety.

This is part of a larger story labeled as the “Battle of the Atlantic,” which lasted over 5 years and saw over 70,000 souls lost. The short runtime allows the film to cause anxiety and give a glimpse of this larger picture.

Final say: You’ll wonder if you took a breath throughout its 91 minutes. ★★★★☆
