With much of the film being silent, your senses will be hyperaware while watching this brilliant horror.
Lee and Evelyn Abbott (John Krasinski & Emily Blunt) are raising their kids in a post-apocalyptic world where extraterrestrial creatures have taken over. While these creatures are blind, they have a great sense of hearing and attack when they hear any sound.
The intensity and dynamic between Lee and Evelyn is perfectly acted by real life husband and wife Krasinski and Blunt. Their kids are well-casted with Millicent Simmonds actually being deaf like her character Regan and Noah Jupe portraying the perfect childhood fear.
In having the challenge of making a horror film with no noise, Krasinski – who also directs – is masterful in creating a new type of horror that is unlike anything that’s come before it.
Final say: Walk, don’t run. ★★★★★
