Based on Emma Donoghue’s stunning novel of the same name, Room is a heartbreaking and inspirational story incredibly acted by Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay.
Jack (Tremblay) only knows the world as the four walls in which he and his Ma, Joy (Larson), live inside. Joy’s been held captive in a room for seven years and Jack is the result of her sexual abuse. Joy comes up with a plan to get her and Jack out, but Jack will have to adapt to a world he doesn’t know.
Both Larson and Tremblay strike emotional chords and will have you rooting for them the moment you realize their situation. Larson’s ability to convey the emotions of the long-trapped Joy will stun you.
With Donoghue writing the screenplay, the film is a close adaptation of the book.
Final say: All-around perfection. ★★★★★
