The final season of the epic HBO series unfortunately created some plot holes without concluding other plots.

With the final battles against the White Walkers and for the Iron Throne coming to fruition, action plans are made. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) continues to pledge allegiance toward the increasingly questionable Danerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) against the wishes of his sisters Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams).

With much less dialogue than previous seasons, the action is the main focus here. However, the episode before the fight with the White Walkers is probably the best of the season and is character-central. The battles leave you hoping your favorites survived.

The end and ultimate winner of the Iron Throne are unsatisfying, but it would be hard to create a universally loved finale.

Final season: Definitely could’ve been better, but not bad. ★★★☆☆
