A story that’s full of survival, Cold Mountain is a feat of a motion picture.

Quiet carpenter W. P. Inman (Jude Law) falls for the preacher’s (Donald Sutherland) beautiful daughter Ada (Nicole Kidman) but soon heads into Civil War as part of the Confederate Army. He promises to come back to her, and the story of her waiting and his survival begins.

While Law and Kidman are stellar leads, Renée Zellweger steals the film as Ruby Hewes. From the moment she appears on the screen, she is incredibly strong and doesn’t put up with anything. There are so many other actors who appear throughout the film, you’ll have a surprise at every corner.

The storyline is very intense and will have you crying throughout, so bring a box of tissues.

Final say: Incredible from start to finish. ★★★★☆
