A film that’s supposed to be a modern teen romance is actually a setback in times that are definitely more progressive than the script.

When popular girl Veronica (Kristine Froseth) tricks high school quarterback Jamey (Noah Centineo) with the phone number of unpopular Sierra (Shannon Purser), the two girls work together to get him to fall for Sierra.

Upon first watch, you might think this is a cute love story. However, once you think about the plotline, Sierra catfishes someone, publicly slut shames one of her friends, pretends to have a disability and kisses someone without their consent. While none of these are good, the final one is quite the shocker in the Me Too Movement where sexual consent is everything.

Final say: Fun performances, but a terrible message to be sending to its age demographic. ★☆☆☆☆
