This film is madness from start to finish, but is consistently hilarious.
When two gangs come together in a warehouse to buy guns, tensions run high leading to a shootout. Though they endure a ton of violence, they fight to the end.
The action here is told through a real-time perspective, which makes viewing entertaining. It feels intimate with the ensemble of actors all together the whole time and with filming remaining within the warehouse.
Brie Larson – the only female among a male-filled cast – holds her own against her counterparts and joins in the action just as much as everyone else. The comedy – mainly brought by Armie Hammer, Jacky Reynor and Sharlto Copley – is spot on. It doesn’t happen enough, but is so great when it does.
Final say: Free Fire almost hits the target. ★★★☆☆
