Music: B’Day

Released: September 1, 2006

By: Beyoncé

While Beyoncé’s 2003 album Dangerously in Love introduced her as a solo artist, this 2006 follow-up cemented her status as an R&B and pop superstar.

Released shortly before her film Dreamgirls, B’Day combines beats of music from times past with modern urban takes. “Irreplaceable” is one of the best on the album. Though it’s a slower pop song that almost goes into ballad territory at points, it brings strength and power to a woman that’s been wronged.

Another one of the big hits is certified dance hit, “Get Me Bodied.” The extended version of the song lasts for over six minutes and features a big dance break with Beyoncé calling out the dance moves. You’ll be moving, which is just what she wants.

Final say: B’Day is a big production with hits from start to finish. ★★★★☆
