A classic Rodgers & Hammerstein show gets a beautiful revival that captures the audience with every move.
Carousel barker Billy Bigelow (Joshua Henry) falls for Julie Jordan (Jessie Mueller). Both lose their jobs and have a volatile relationship, but their love prevails. When a fatal accident happens, Billy is given a second chance to change his family’s life.
From the start of the show, it’s clear that Justin Peck’s choreography is the pulse that brings the show to life. Every step has purpose making it the most beautiful dance show during its time on Broadway.
While all the actors are fantastic in their roles, Mueller and Lindsay Mendez (as Carrie) stand out. Mueller brings strength to Julie, while Mendez shines every moment she’s on stage.
Final say: This production breathes new life to an old production. ★★★★☆
