Released: October 24, 2011
By: Michael Bublé
If Michael Bublé had been born decades ago, he would’ve been a perfect addition to the Rat Pack. He has a crooner’s voice that makes holiday standards come back to life in the way they were meant to be heard.
His cover of “White Christmas” follows the tune of The Drifters version rather than Bing Crosby’s, and brining Shania Twain along makes for a perfect Christmas pairing. His opening song, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” is just what you need at the beginning of the holiday season.
However, his awfully cringe-worthy version of “Santa Baby” almost ruins the whole album. Trying to find alternate words to “baby,” he calls Santa “buddy” and “booby” among others. It’s hard to listen to and should have been omitted from the album.
Final say: A holly jolly album. ★★★★☆
