Following Fox’s Grease Live!, NBC brought in a studio audience to cheer on the performances of the mega-talented Hairspray Live! cast.

When the unconventional Tracy Turnblad (Maddie Baillio) makes it onto The Corny Collins Show, she uses it as a platform to make her voice heard around Baltimore. Teaming up with her mother Edna (Harvey Fierstein) and black TV show host Motormouth Maybelle (Jennifer Hudson), Tracy fights for equality and integration on television.

Newcomer Baillio holds her own alongside the talented cast including star performances from Broadway veteran Kristin Chenoweth and comic genius Martin Short.

There are a few technical issues throughout the live show, but the music and dancing more than easily makes up for it. Hudson’s vocals on “I Know Where I’ve Been” will give you chills.
