One crazy night changed the world and a group of friends filmed the whole thing.
Rob Hawkins (Michael Stahl-David) is moving to Japan, so his friends throw a going away party for him. While Hud (T.J. Miller) is filming testimonials, an earthquake strikes New York City. The group soon learns that this earthquake was actually a monster that is tearing up the entire city.
The film is a “found-footage” feature, which is created as if someone is holding a video camera the whole time. This could be off-putting to viewers as it is continually shaky. However, this is one of the only found-footage films that I actually enjoyed. Miller’s commentary keeps it entertaining the whole time and audiences will be just as stressed as the characters in the film.
Final say: An epic adventure in real time. ★★★★☆
