Music: Graffiti U

Released: April 27, 2018

By: Keith Urban

Like fellow country performers Thomas Rhett and Sam Hunt, Keith Urban is pushing the limits of country and pop on Graffiti U.

Gone are the days of our grandparents’ country music where everything was a bit more folk, on this album Urban employs the voices of artists like Julia Michaels, Lindsay Eli and Kassi Ashton to feature on his tracks while also using the writing skills of Ed Sheeran and Nate Ruess.

This album is an instant head bopper. While the music sounds different from anything Urban has done before, he doesn’t lose his free spirit.

Highlights include “Drop Top,” a song perfect for an outdoor summer party, “Gemini,” a love letter to his Gemini wife Nicole Kidman, and the socially driven “Female.”

Final say: Urban makes it look easy to stay relevant and new on his tenth album. ★★★★★
