Music: Headstrong

Released: February 6, 2007

By: Ashley Tisdale

The Disney Channel star rides her High School Musical fame in her debut album.

Reminiscent of Britney Spears in her early days, this album is pure pop with just enough edge to make it slightly sexy but still tween appropriate.

Tisdale doesn’t have the strongest vocals – though arguably the best of her HSM costars – but her songs are safe enough not to push her limits.

Her upbeat songs like “He Said She Said” and “Not Like That” are danceable and fun. However, her ballads like “Love Me for Me” leave a lot to be desired.

The music on this album proves that Tisdale could be more than the typical Disney Channel act. She combines personality and pop to create a sound that’s right for her.

Final say: An album Sharpay would’ve been proud of. ★★★☆☆
