Released: October 9, 2012
By: The Beach Boys
While popular in the ‘60s and ‘70s, The Beach Boys are an American treasure whose music continues to stand the test of time.
The album starts with the less-than-stellar “That’s Why God Made the Radio,” which is their first original single in 20 years. It has a slower beat that doesn’t match the rest of the album. While a nice addition, it makes for a rough start.
Once you get into their older music, like “California Girls,” “Kokomo,” and “Surfin’ Safari,” you’ll understand why they were so big in their time. The songs have aged well and are still fun to sing along to with all ages.
Multiple generations will recognize songs, like “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” featured heavily in 50 First Dates and Love Actually’s closing song “God Only Knows.”
Final say: Kick back and relax with these hits. ★★★★☆
