Music: Nick Jonas

Released: November 10, 2014

By: Nick Jonas

When the Jonas Brothers announced their split in 2013, it came as a shock to fans. However, it was clear that if one were going to continue to succeed, it would be youngest brother Nick.

While this is technically Jonas’ second studio album – after 2005’s Nicholas Jonas – this is a complete reinvention. Known for his higher pitched vocals when compared to his brother Joe in the trio, he stays mainly in his lower register here – which strengthens him as a whole artist.

The first half of the album is much better than the second with a sexy edge to songs like “Chains,” “Wilderness” and “Teacher.” Though, it’s “Jealous” that cemented his star-power – the protectiveness that he has for his lover is addictive and he goes between both his higher and lower registers.

Final say: An unexpectedly sensual experience. ★★★☆☆
