All the fun and humor of the 2001 film comes to the Broadway stage.
When the banished fairytale creatures take over his swamp, Shrek (Brian D’Arcy James) goes to speak his mind to Lord Farquaad (Christopher Sieber). However, plans change when Farquaad sends Shrek and Donkey (Daniel Breaker) on a quest to save Princess Fiona (Sutton Foster) from a tower so he can marry her and become a prince.
Everything about this show will delight you. Breaker and Sieber play their roles hilariously over the top, while managing not to be annoying. Meanwhile, Foster and James have incredible chemistry that works tenderly, but also brings the laughs.
The music from the show is incredibly catchy and moves the plot along well. You never feel like something is added as a filler.
Final say: Get ready to wave your freak flag. ★★★★★
