With smart, self-reverent jokes and a powerful message in a time of hate, Drag the Musical is a show that’s not to be missed.

Competing right across the street, drag bar owners and former lovers Kitty Galloway (Alaska Thunderfuck) and Alexis Gilmore (Nick Adams) are both fighting to keep their doors open. Alexis enlists the help of her estranged brother Tom (Joey McIntyre) who has a shy son Brendan (Kayden Koshelev).

Updated from their original run, the story flows well and the jokes are laugh out loud funny. Koshelev and J. Elaine Marcos have standout moments, but it’s the cast of queens who make this musical shine. They bring jokes that allow them to make fun of themselves while also serving up killer vocals – notably from Jan Sport and Lagoona Bloo.

Final say: Celebratory drag is the best drag. ★★★★☆
