Encompassing the end of your teen years and being expected to be instantly mature, Olivia Rodrigo will easily be remembered as one of the greatest voices of her generation with her polished second album GUTS.

Like the tracks on SOUR, there’s constant change within the songs that makes them ever evolving. In the opener “All-American Bitch,” she starts with softer acoustic chords and vocals before launching into a hard pop-rock chorus reminiscent of Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne. The lead single “Vampire” is an instant classic with lyrics of an unworthy partner that all ages can relate to.

While it’s clear that Rodrigo’s experience is that of someone younger, she fully admits that from the start and willingly sings about her knowingly self-destructive experiences – see the wonderfully self-dismissive “Bad Idea Right?”
