Featuring an incredible lead in Iman Vellani, Ms. Marvel brings great diversity to Marvel with a lighter tone and a strong sense of history.
Avengers-obsessed Kamala Khan (Vellani) realizes she has superpowers after putting on a bangle given to her by her grandmother (Samina Ahmad). Kamala encounters the Clandestines, a group led by Najma (Nimra Bucha), that needs Kamala’s powers to get back to their own world.
Kamala is a fantastic addition to the Marvel universe thanks Vellani’s entertaining and powerful performance. The story does well with exploring Kamala’s religion and family history with the partition between India and Pakistan, which is only emphasized on the production end with South Asian directors and writers.
Though the show might feel too teen for some, the excellent graphics and fun comic moments are enough to please.
Final say: Marvel-ing at Kamala. ★★★★☆
