A wild comedy that earns its R-rating, Joy Ride will keep you laughing but surprise you with the heart that comes in the second half.

Audrey (Ashley Park), Lolo (Sherry Cola) and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu) are going to China to meet a client of Audrey’s firm. They meet up with Audrey’s college roommate Kat (Stephanie Hsu) and search for Audrey’s birth mother as they experience many roadblocks.

The quartet of actresses are incredible. Each one creates a distinctive character that you’ll feel like you know, and they play off each other perfectly.

It’s amazing to see that this film about four Asian women was also written and directed by Asian women. When you’re looking for representation, this is it. However, it also shows that comedy is broader than what we usually see onscreen.
