Following Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) disappearance during Avengers: Endgame, the show provides Hiddleston a bumpy route to take his character to the next level.

After escaping with the Tesseract, Loki is apprehended by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and is being kept under the watch of Mobius (Owen Wilson) to help hunt down alternate variants of himself.

There’s a lot to process in the timeline of this show that makes it a bit confusing. Most importantly, the Loki we’re interacting with here has only been through the events of 2012’s The Avengers, so any film he appears in thereafter must be forgotten.

Compared to the other Marvel shows, this one will make you think pretty hard as you try to understand the story. If it weren’t for Hiddleston’s fantastic portrayal, it could have all gone sideways.

Final say: Muddled but well-acted. ★★★☆☆
