Though some argue that Cinderella (Ilene Woods) was just waiting for a man to save her, it’s clear on a rewatch that she just wanted to look pretty and go to a party. We shouldn’t hold that against her.
After her father’s death, Cinderella is left in the hands of her evil stepmother Lady Tremaine (Eleanor Audley). When a ball is thrown to find the prince (William Edward Phipps) a wife, Cinderella is thwarted by her stepmother until her Fairy Godmother (Verna Felton) arrives.
Featuring gorgeous animation, Cinderella’s tattered dress transforming into her ballgown is one of the most iconic moments in film history.
Almost every character in this film has had lasting effects from those already mentioned to the mice and Cinderella’s stepsisters, all created the framework for Disney characters to come.
Final say: A dream come true. ★★★★☆
