There might not be a whole lot to the story of The Sword in the Stone, but there’s a lot of fun to be had with the legendary tale.
While England is in the Dark Ages, Arthur (Rickie Sorensen, Richard Reitherman & Robert Reitherman) falls into Merlin’s (Karl Swenson) house. Merlin deems himself Arthur’s tutor, but Arthur’s foster father Sir Ector (Sebastian Cabot) is less than welcoming.
Featuring many entertaining moments with Arthur and Merlin, the most exciting scene features witch Madam Mim (Martha Wentworth) and Merlin having a wizards duel and turning into numerous animals to battle each other.
Unlike many Disney films, this one is more about the moments rather than a narrative story. The titular sword from the start reappears in the final moments with little buildup.
Final say: Not king-worthy, but still good. ★★★☆☆
