Holding promise of comedy to come, Loot gets a leg up in its first season even if it runs a bit shaky.

When Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) divorces her husband John (Adam Scott), she becomes a billionaire. Focusing on next steps in her life, Molly becomes more invested in the foundation she started years previously, which is run by the unbending Sofia (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez).

Though Rudolph expectedly brings fantastic comedic timing, there’s not enough growth in Molly over the first season to fully connect with her. While you’ll root for her, you’ll also see her downfalls coming from a mile away.

The supporting cast bring quirks we expect from coworkers, but the blossoming friendship between Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) and Howard (Ron Funches) is the real heart of the show.
