Partially inspired by a true story, The Terminal is a heartwarming film that reminds us of the importance of human connection.
Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks) gets stuck at New York’s JFK airport while his home country is at war and his passport is invalid. Acting Field Commissioner Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci) isn’t aware of how long Viktor will remain in the airport.
Hanks gives a fantastically layered performance as Viktor continues living in the airport learning English, making friends and waiting for his chance to enter New York. Diego Luna, Chi McBride, Zoe Saldaña and Kumar Pallana all portray great adversaries in this unstable time.
It’s arguable that the film runs too long, and your interest level might be lost midway through, but a romance with Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Amelia livens it up again.
Final say: Be nice to each other. ★★★★☆
