A film that shows how you can succeed in the face of adversity, Forrest Gump is an epic tale that shines from Tom Hanks’ performance of the titular character.
Having been teased in school, Forrest Gump found solace in his only friend Jenny (Robin Wright, as an adult). Throughout his life, Forrest finds himself at the center of his historical events.
Hanks is brilliant. He plays the character honestly and empathetically with Forrest’s low IQ and social awkwardness. You feel bad at how many of the people surrounding him treat him, including Jenny, which will make you root for him even more.
The story presented is fantastical and the special effects used to place Forrest in historical moments with the likes of Richard Nixon and John Lennon are unbeatable.
Final say: A good piece of chocolate. ★★★★☆
