With Meryl Streep fantastically leading the film, It’s Complicated is messy, raunchy and a hell of a good time.
Jane (Streep) and Jake (Alec Baldwin) have been divorced for 10 years but are on amicable terms as they travel to New York for their son Luke’s (Hunter Parrish) graduation. A drunken night leads to the former couple having an affair right as Jane starts to get involved with architect Adam (Steve Martin).
Steep is an absolute joy to watch and lets Jane be wild and free while still considering the consequences. The real scene-stealer is John Krasinski and Jane’s future son-in-law Harley. He’s incredibly comedic and holds up well amongst the heavy-weight cast.
The story leans into some morally questionable actions but never strays from talking about them, which makes it feel better.
Final say: Loving this is not complicated. ★★★★★
