In their third collaboration together, director Paul Feig and star Melissa McCarthy prove that they’re a comedic match made in heaven with Spy.
After the death of her partner Bradley Fine (Jude Law), CIA employee Susan Cooper (McCarthy) volunteers to leave the basement to work undercover in the field. She is tasked with tracking Rayna Boyanov (Rose Byrne) who has details about a stolen portable nuclear bomb.
Combining high intensity action sequences with brilliant humor, the film never misses its mark and exceeds expectations with a few plot twists. Susan proves that you can’t underestimate the people surrounding you.
The always magnificent McCarthy leads a cast of comedic superstars, including ones you wouldn’t expect like Jason Statham as Agent Rick Ford. Statham doesn’t hold back and almost every line of his will having tearing up laughing.
Final say: Mission accomplished. ★★★★★
