I Could Never Be Your Woman may feel incredibly outdated due to its jokes about weight, eating disorders and age but if you scrape past that, Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd are incredibly charismatic leads that are irresistible.
Rosie (Pfeiffer) is a television writer/producer who’s found the next big comedic actor in Adam (Rudd). They quickly fall for each other despite over a decade age difference and Rosie feeling too old for him. Rosie’s daughter Izzie (Saoirse Ronan) is dealing with her first big crush.
In her film debut, Ronan cements herself as a star that can easily act alongside Pfeiffer and Rudd. The couple have incredibly chemistry that’ll have you cheering for them.
However, the script isn’t great and couldn’t be made today. Tracey Ullman’s Mother Nature also feels extremely out of place.
Final say: Great cast, bad writing. ★★★☆☆
