Based on a true story that led to the world hearing eyewitness accounts from the concentration camps for the first time, Operation Finale is an important story even when the film dips into a slow period.

After Hitler and other high-ranking Holocaust masterminds committed suicide, Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley) became the final survivor and disappeared. Discovered in Argentina in 1960, Israel’s Mossad begins the undertaking of capturing Eichmann and bringing him to justice.

Despite knowing what happens in history, the planning and kidnapping of Eichmann is intense. You’ll fear for the members of Mossad, but then a delay in their escape leads into a lengthened slow period that’s inevitable but sucks out the energy the film created.

Kingsley allows for tenderness in his villainous character but doesn’t hold back in his most biting moments.

Final say: This finale is deserved. ★★★☆☆
