Though labeled as an adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel, Without Remorse has little to do with the book and is a generic action film that doesn’t focus much on more than one character.
After serving on a mission in Aleppo, John Kelly (Michael B. Jordan) and his team are targeted to be wiped out. John survives but loses his wife and unborn daughter in the process. He then sets out to get revenge.
Jordan fantastically portrays John. He’s got the strength and the emotion that the character needs for this to be a compelling watch. Outside of John, there are no memorable characters.
Though it’s well shot, there’s not much in the film to grab viewers. It’s a copy of many other action films with similar plots but with nothing to set it apart.
Final say: Remorseful about this. ★★☆☆☆
